Homebodii Bride of the Month: Lauren Bennett
A little bit about me..
Eric and I met on October 5th in 2019 where we spent the day together after my Mom had set us up. At the time he was living about an hour away from San Francisco and offered to come all the way to take me to brunch. He later moved to San Francisco where we now live together.
Our approach to planning the wedding was…
To make sure that our wedding would feel ethereal, intimate, intentional, and timeless. I took a lot of inspiration from my favorite bridal publication The Lane, and our venue’s ancient, rustic beauty. I also looked to Mia Sylvia's drapery work as well as Acqua and Ink's stationary designs. We wanted it to be all about the details, so that our aesthetic was precise from beginning to end.
Looking back, we’re so glad that we…
Had the wedding of our dreams and did not compromise! We planned our wedding over the course of two years, and even worked a part time job pouring wine on the weekends together, to bring the vision of our wedding weekend to life and it was worth every sacrifice along the way. Your wedding should be exactly what you and your partner envision - whether that's an intimate elopement or a big wedding with everyone you know and love. As long as it's what you and your partner want, you will look back with gratitude.
The most unexpected part of the day was…
The most unexpected part of the day was how special doing our vows privately in the morning was. We chose to read our vows to each other privately on the morning of our wedding, before we parted for the day, and it was both of our favorite part of the day. With tears in both of our eyes, we exchanged vows - along with our wedding gifts - and it was by far the most intimate and emotional moment we had all weekend.
When I look back now, I feel…
Having just returned from our honeymoon and with my bridal era officially closed, I look back with such love and peace. We did our best to honor what we REALLY wanted and what felt true to us from the minute we got engaged. I feel that we experienced this part of our lives to the fullest and I will forever be grateful to everyone who was part of this time of our lives.
My advice to new brides is…
Romanticize every moment of the process! As I write this, our wedding first dance song just came on and I am immediately taken back to all the moments we practiced our dance in the living room, or turned on our cocktail party playlist and wedding planned in the evenings. When you look back, you will cherish all the little moments leading up to the big day, almost as much as the wedding itself.
My Homebodii moment was special because…
I wore the Sian Long Robe in white from Homebodii on my wedding day over a vintage inspired slip from Maison Essentielles. I wanted to feel elegant, ethereal, and feminine and the Sian Long Robe was the perfect addition to my getting ready ensemble to make me feel beautiful on my wedding day. What I love so much about the Sian Long Robe is how much I have been able to wear it since the wedding, which always reminds me of our special day. I brought it on our mini-moon in mallorca and wore it all throughout our honeymoon in the Maldives. The silky material feels amazingly high quality and I love the light lace detail on the edges.
